Design study · ruimte.
From a question about home to a website decision.
How do you give an interior studio a distinctive website that visitors can find their way around? With ruimte., we explore how atmosphere, clear services and an initial enquiry can form one coherent story.
ruimte. is a fictional interior studio. This is an original website concept, not a client commission or completed interior project.
The concept, step by step.
Is this the right studio for me?
The interior illustration, warm colours and understated type convey the studio’s approach. A short introduction explains what it does; the button leads to its services.
Which service fits my needs?
Three familiar needs each have their own service. Their names reflect what the visitor wants to change. This explains the differences before asking visitors to choose.
Why these design choices?
An attractive image alone does not explain a design. The study also sets out the brief and the choices in lighting, colour and materials.
Can I get in touch yet?
The invitation makes it clear that an initial idea is enough. An example enquiry gives visitors a starting point without asking for a complete brief.

Calm, with character.
The questionA calm living space that still feels personal.
The choiceWarm materials, one distinctive colour and room for daylight.
What do you
have in mind?
A whole room, a tricky corner or a first idea. That is where it starts.

The starting question.
How can we help someone with plans for their home find the right advice and ask an initial question?
The starting assumptions.
There is no real client or customer research behind this study. The question about the home and the services are chosen starting points. The interior illustration represents that direction.
The decision and the reason.
Four visitor questions connect the first impression with a next step. Here is how the content and design respond to them.
Does this studio fit my taste and what I need for my home?
Atmosphere and meaning in the first impression.
- The design decision
- A large interior illustration combines warm colours, understated type and one distinctive blue. “Interior design & advice” immediately explains what the studio does. “Find what fits” leads to the services.
- Why this decision?
- In this example, atmosphere gives visitors a reason to explore. The short explanation gives the image meaning; the next step brings the services within reach. Image, text and action each have a purpose.
Do I need focused advice or a complete plan?
Naming services around a need at home.
- The design decision
- The services are “A different layout”, “Advice for one room” and “A complete interior plan”. Each name comes with a short explanation of the change that service helps with.
- Why this decision?
- The names describe familiar starting points. The explanation makes the difference in scope clear. Visitors can then explore the design study to get a sense of how the ideas take shape.
Why does this interior look the way it does?
An image with a reason behind it.
- The design decision
- The image is accompanied by the question and the design choice: a calm, personal space; warm materials, one distinctive colour and room for daylight. The study is labelled as a project that has not been carried out.
- Why this decision?
- The question gives context to what you see. The explanation connects the intended atmosphere to visible choices in the image. This reveals a line of thinking that can be discussed.
Can I get in touch before I have a complete plan?
Letting contact begin with an initial idea.
- The design decision
- The invitation mentions a whole room, a tricky corner or a first idea. The example question about calm and coherence shows what someone could share. The contact step is clearly a demonstration.
- Why this decision?
- Visitors have a starting point for their first message. The chosen next step is a conversation about their home. The scope of a project would be discussed afterwards.
What this study demonstrates.
- A coherent visual style on wide and narrow screens.
- A route from first impression through services and design choices to an initial enquiry.
- How content, imagery and action follow from a chosen visitor question.
What it has not established.
- No real visitors have been researched, and no enquiries or revenue results have been measured.
- The study does not demonstrate a client relationship, completed interior work or a business result.
The plan behind the pages.
A compact example of the decisions before the design. For ruimte., we set out the route like this:
- The visitor and the questionI want to change my living room. Do I need advice or a complete design?
- The content decisionMake three services easy to compare: layout, advice for one room and a complete interior plan. Use a design study to show how the choices come together.
- The next stepInvite visitors to share what they want to change at home. They do not need a complete plan yet.
The decision for this concept: discuss the question about the home first. Direct online booking falls outside the chosen route.
